The production team behind the feature film "Believe" was hoping for 200 extras to show up Saturday at a local park in Buchanan County, VA when more than 2,000 people showed up to support the project and be in the film.

The film stars Ryan O'Quinn, Shawnee Smith, Danielle Nicolet and Issac Brown and revolves around a local business owner (O'Quinn) who befriends a young boy and sets out to save a small town as well as the annual Christmas pageant.

The entire Los Angeles-based production team were pleasantly surprised at the turnout and said they could not have done this scene without the outpouring of support from the local community. Several bands and comedians performed during the evening as well as a Christmas nativity scene, all of which took place in with extras dressed in Winter attire despite March temperatures in the 70s. The Buchanan County Chamber of Commerce and many local businesses and agencies helped produce the event.

The film is set for a Christmas 2016 release.

I was so amazed at our little community, and how we all rallied together to aid in the filming of the movie, "Believe." I didn't get the opportunity to meet the cast, but maybe next time!

I am so glad that the making of this movie has given that small community something to look forward to. As well as something to do. The thing that bothers me is that the town is doing things they would not normally do! All the planning and excitement is just because of the movie. Not the norm. Why is there not a beautiful Christmas party for real! Why is the town not decorated like it is now all the time? Why is the things they are doing not the way the town is normally done? Grundy could be such a great place! Not that it isn't now. But just think of the potential there that has been proven by the hoopla if the movie!
I was raised there and lived there most of my 57 years. I see how it could be and how it really is. Thank you Mr. Oquinn for bringing that to the community.
